Washington, D.C., USA. –  The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is pleased to announce the unanimous election of Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins and Alan O. Fitts to our Board of Directors.  AfP President and CEO Uzra Zeya commented, “I am thrilled to welcome two dynamic national security and private sector leaders as our newest Board members.  Bonnie and Alan bring to AfP an unwavering commitment to peaceful prevention, renowned skills in diplomacy and partnership building, and global networks that will give added impetus to our Alliance. Alan Fitts

Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins is the Founder and President of AfP member organization Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS).  Prior to founding WCAPS in 2017, she served for eight years as an Ambassador at the U.S. Department of State (DOS) and Coordinator for Threat Reduction Programs in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation.  In this role, Ambassador Jenkins coordinated State Department programs and activities to prevent weapons of mass destruction (WMD) terrorism.  She also served as the U.S. representative to the 30-nation G7 Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction and chaired the Global Partnership in 2012.  Jenkins is a retired Naval Reserves Officer and earned several awards for her service.  Jenkins holds a Ph.D. in international relations from the University of Virginia; an LL.M. in international and comparative law from the Georgetown University Law Center; an M.P.A. from the State University of New York at Albany; a J.D. from Albany Law School and a B.A. from Amherst College.

Alan Fitts is the Executive Director of International Government Relations at JPMorgan Chase & Co. In that capacity, Alan serves as the Executive Secretary of the J.P. Morgan International Council, an advisory board – chaired by Rt. Hon. Tony Blair – that advises the firm on its international strategy. In that role, he coordinates various lines of business and philanthropic efforts to help advance the priorities of the firm. Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase & Co., Alan served in a variety of senior positions at the White House and the Department of State, including as Trip Director and Director of Advance to First Lady Michelle Obama, White House Liaison to the Department of State, and Senior Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to France.  Prior to his roles in the public sector, Alan spent six years at Goldman Sachs & Co. Alan has a B.A. from Williams College, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
